With things disassembled (maybe destroyed), I can now have better picture of internals. And as a surprise the attachment part has very generous number of magnet fitted inside. Total of 12 magnets tightly packed. And with further study of magnetic orientation, each segment has multiple poles, probably two sets of opposing poles. I dunno why they do but I am going to salvage these magnets and use as is so doesn't matter I guess..

 
I was going to salvage the internal stiffener/panel of the cover but that’s not going to happen. It’s some kind of composit piece with numbers of magnet imbedded and the cover material won’t come off cleanly. What would be a good alternative to go for... hmm...

 

 

 

Building model was somewhat straight forward except now I have to consider the internal magnet dimensions too. A few experimental changes were made but will see if these are positive or not after 3d print arrives.

 

 

 

 

Off you go. Now it's time to wait, or perhaps start another project?
